2. What ‘Personal Information’ do we collect?
Bite Sized Tech does not collect any personal information about you knowingly. We don’t need it. We don’t want it.
- We Don’t Collect Any Information using forms on our website.
- We Don’t Create A Mailing List to send You Promotional or Service Emails on our website.
2.1 Matomo – Self Hosted Analytics Used By E.U. COmmission, NASA, United Nations And More
Bite Sized Tech has been in search for a Website Analytics software which
- Respects your privacy
- Does not share your data with Third Party, like it happens when using Google Analytics
- and can be configured to not collect any personal information about you.
Because of this we have not used any analytics software for the first year and a half of this website.
Matomo is a Completely Open Source and Self-Hosted Analytics Solution i.e. it is deployed directly on our Hosting Server
which means that we are the 100% Owner of this data and no one else other then our Hosting Provider – Hostinger has access to it.
Matomo is also used by a lot of reputed institutions like E.U. Commission, NASA, United Nations, and more.
2.1.1 How We Have Configured Matomo
To make sure that none of your Personal Identifiable Information (PII) is ever stored on our servers, we have
2.1.1.1 Anonymized The Last 2 Octets of the IP Address – We don’t store the full IP Address on our server.
Eg. if your IP is 192.168.123.444 then it will be stored as 192.168.0.0 on our server.
This will make sure we are not storing your Full IP Address which a considered as a PII (Personally Identifiable Information).
Anonymized IP Address with no way to identify the user with the other data we have or reverse engineer it to identify the user again is not considered as PII.
For Example,
- If we stored the Full IP Address but used the Anonymized IP in reports, we would be storing PII.
- If we just pseudonymized the IP Address, it will still be considered as PII.
- If we encrypted the IP Address but as we would still have the ability to decrypt it, it would have been considered as PII.
But instead as we did not want to have any liability and wanted be completely out of GDPR’s purview
we decided to Anonymize the IP Address, rendering it into not being considered as PII under GDPR.
And as the IP Address has been Anonymized,
this will also make any Geo Location we get largely inaccurate and unrelated to you
because the Geo location will be found using the Anonymized IP Address.
It is possible that we might not be able to detect even the Country correctly.
2.1.1.2 Completely Disabled Tracking Cookies
This means that we will not placing any tracking cookies to identify you across your visits or track you otherwise.
We will still need to place some Necessary Cookies namely,

2.1.1.3 Completely Disabled Browser Plugin Detection
Browser Plugin Detection requires prior cookie consent according to the Germany’s ePrivacy implementation TTDSG § 25 para. 1
This can also be used for Fingerprinting and we had no need to know this information.
3. Social Media Features & Framed Pages
Our Services include certain Social Media features such as (but not limited to) “Share this” button or other interactive mini-programs (“Social Media Features”). These Social Media Features may collect certain Personal Information such as your IP address or which page you are visiting on our Website and may set a cookie to enable them to function properly. Social Media Features are either hosted by a third party or hosted directly on our Services. Your interactions with these third parties’ Social Media Features are governed by their policies and not ours.
In addition, our Services may enable you to share your Personal Information with third parties directly, such as via page framing techniques to serve content to or from Third-Party Service Providers or other parties, while preserving the look and feel of our Website and Services (“Frames”).
